Specialized gathering equipment is designed to improve your gathering yield at the cost of lackluster offensive power, making your farming endeavors much more profitable, but also a lot riskier. If you prefer to be an aggressor, you might opt to Gather in an offensive setup that will allow you to fight off other Gatherers or even actively prey on them and kill an occasional Ganker that mistakes you for an easy Target.
